James Scott is originally from Modesto, CA and started dancing when he was just a young teenager at a local studio with his older sister. He started off learning some social dances as well as training in Standard Ballroom and Latin and continued through high school. James then attended Brigham Young University where he became part of the national and world champion ballroom dance company, eventually touring around the country and China. As a student, James began competing in the International Standard and Latin (and later American Smooth) at the Championship level while also working towards a degree in Italian with a brief break to serve a mission for his church. He started teaching for the dance program at BYU, teaching over 200 students while there. Currently, James is a certified teaching professional while also competing professionally in American Smooth and hopes to continue the elite dancing tradition here at the studio.
