James Scott grew up in Modesto, CA where he started ballroom dancing at the age of 14 at a local studio. James served a mission for his church in Southern Italy and Malta for two years when he was 19. He then returned and attended Brigham Young University where he cultivated his love of dance while studying a number of different subjects, ultimately deciding to graduate in Italian Studies. James competed in International Standard and Latin as well as American Smooth at the amateur level while teaching as part of the staff at BYU. James enjoys teaching International and American styles. Currently, James is competing in professional Smooth competitions. James has been part of the world champion BYU Ballroom Dance Company, which toured around the United States as well as China.
